The Ultimate Guide to Finding Comfortable Heels in Size 10-15

The Ultimate Guide to Finding Comfortable Heels in Size 10-15

Why comfortable heels in larger sizes are so hard to find

If you wear a size 10 to 15, you know the routine. You fall for a pair, check the size run, and it stops at 10. Or it goes up to 11, but the shape is so basic it looks like an afterthought. And when you do find your size, comfort is rarely part of the conversation.

We started Naked Sole because heels in sizes 10 to 15 deserve the same attention to fit, shape and style as any other size. Here's what we've learnt about finding a pair you'll actually want to stay in all night.

The heel shapes that work hardest

Block and mid heels: steady from desk to dinner

A wider heel spreads your weight more evenly, so there's less pressure through the ball of the foot. It's the shape to reach for on long workdays, events where you'll be standing, or anywhere with uneven ground.

How to wear it: With tailored trousers and a crisp shirt for work, or a slip skirt and knit when the evening turns cool.

Strappy heels: secure, and made for occasions

Straps across the foot and ankle hold you in place, so your foot isn't gripping the shoe with every step. That makes a real difference at weddings, races and long dinners.

How to wear it: A satin midi dress and a strappy heel is still the easiest occasion outfit there is. Go metallic for evening or a soft pastel for daytime.

We love the Alice Strappy Heel in Silver and the Camellia Strappy Heel in Ballet Pink.

Low heels and slingbacks: the everyday option

A lower heel means less pitch through the foot, which means less fatigue by the end of the day. A slingback strap keeps the heel secure without the pinch of a closed back.

How to wear it: A pointed slingback with straight leg jeans and an oversized blazer is the off duty uniform right now.

Shop the Quinn Low Heel Slingback in Silver or the Alexandra Patent Slingback in Black.

How to find heels that fit properly

Comfort starts with fit. Keep these in mind when you shop:

  • Know your true size. Measure your feet at the end of the day, when they're at their largest, and check our size guide before you order.
  • Consider width, not just length. If shoes usually pinch across the front of your foot, start with our wide fit collection.
  • Look for straps that hold you in. Ankle straps and slingbacks add stability and stop your heel slipping.
  • Choose heel width for how long you'll wear them. Save the fine stilettos for shorter nights and go wider when you'll be on your feet for hours.
  • Add cushioning. If you'll be wearing heels for long stretches, a slim gel insert under the ball of the foot helps.
